Dave Thompson SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch recently welcomed Badenoch constituents Roy and Sophia Gibson, who founded Active Outdoor Pursuits in 1999, to Business in Parliament.
Active Outdoor Pursuits was founded in Scotland in April 1999 by Roy and Sophia Gibson, who both share a love of the outdoors, a passion for Scotland’s landscapes, history, culture and wild places. They wanted to share this passion with other people of all ages, walks of life and outdoor ambitions – which is why they have taken great pleasure in witnessing people experiencing their own outdoor adventures as a result of their own entrepreneurial pursuits.
Mr Thompson said, “I had the delight of meeting Roy and Sophia Gibson who are great examples to others as to how to go about fusing your hobbies and your working life by making them one in the same”.
“Naturally, this has taken a lot of time and hard work, however I have no doubt that the enthusiasm they share for outdoor pursuits has contributed to the success of their business”.
Dave went on, “I would like to thank Roy and Sophia for the time they took to attend the Business in Parliament event last week and wish them all the best with their future business endeavours”.
Commenting on the event, Roy Gibson said, “The event was very positive and engaging. The workshops were good, providing lively debate and discussion. It was great to meet Dave in person as well as get the chance to talk to him in his capacity as an MSP”.
“As well as being useful for us, I hope the event was useful at getting the ideas and crucially the needs of businesses across to policy makers, so there is a better understanding of what is required”.
“I would most definitely be interested in attending any similar events in the future”.
