Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch is delighted to learn that the Employability and Development Team of West Highland College, UHI, have been named finalists for an award from the Scottish Training Federation.
The award recognises excellence in promoting further education and equipping individuals with the tools necessary to gain lasting employment.
In the last three years, the Employability Team have helped over 50 individuals gain sustainable, long term employment with another 33 entering Further and Higher Education at West Highland College. They are recognised, in particular for their exemplary work in the Plantation area of Fort William.
The Awards will be announced on September 30.
Mr Thompson said, “I congratulate this team for their dedication to the people whom they serve. This staff has helped these community members to realise their potential in the face of social and economic disadvantage.
“I wish this team the best of luck in winning this award. No matter the outcome, seeing the outstanding success of their students is an award of its own ”.
