SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, Dave Thompson is calling for his constituents to engage with Transport Scotland’s Rail2014 Consultation which has just been launched.
Commenting on this, Mr Thompson said: “This is an opportunity for people throughout the constituency to help shape the development of rail services across Scotland.
“The policy makers and transport professionals will have their own particular views, but if the rail network is to meet passengers’ requirements then it is essential that people play a part in determining the way in which the network can better meet their needs.
“The views of those who are not currently regular passengers are sought as well as those who use the rail network regularly, since the objective is to increase the number of people using the train.
“I know that there are a number of communities in my constituency who have strong views on the re-opening of particular rail lines or stations and for them this is an excellent opportunity to get their preferred project moved up the priority list.
“Members of the public can respond to the consultation via the Transport Scotland website: http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/rail2014.
“Transport Scotland staff will also be speaking with passengers at train stations across the country, where passengers will be able to give direct feedback.
“Whether you want to see a new station in your area or have an idea that could improve the experience for passengers your view is valued and I hope that everyone with ideas about how to improve the rail service will read this document and make their opinions known.”
