Highlands and Islands SNP MSP, Dave Thompson has attended the Scottish Crofting Foundations Annual Gathering in Grantown on Spey today. The theme of the gathering is Small farms: backbone of rural development or a barrier to efficiency?
There are speakers from a variety of European countries including Finland and France, all focusing on the problems and opportunities for small farmers in the EU. The key note address will be given tomorrow by Roseanna Cunningham, Minister for the Environment.
Commenting Dave said: "I thoroughly enjoyed going to the gathering and listening to the speakers contributions. Given the ongoing debate over the Draft Crofting Reform Bill I was particularly keen to hear the views of crofters attending the gathering. By working together we can ensure that the Bill meets the needs of crofters in the 21st century."
