With the next Holyrood elections less than a year away, Highlands and Islands SNP MSP Dave Thompson is urging the people of the Highlands and Islands to make sure that they are registered to vote.
All eligible Scots will be called to the polls in May next year, and with the possibility that the Westminster election boundaries may also be redrawn, it is vitally important that people ensure that they are counted in any review of constituencies.
Commenting on this, Mr Thompson said: "Next year's election is the
chance for the people of the Highlands and Islands to vote for an
experienced government to lead Scotland through the tough times we are
facing.
"However, regardless of who people vote for, it is important that as
many people as possible take part in our democratic process and are
registered to vote.
"At a time when we face a UK Government that the people of Scotland did
not want and did not vote for - electing a strong Scottish Government to
stand up for and speak up for the people of Scotland is more important
than ever.
"With Westminster's plans to cut Scotland's representation, based on the
number of people registered to vote, it is vital that we maintain the
strongest possible voice at Westminster.
"For now, that means making sure that as many voters as possible are on the electoral roll."
