Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has welcomed the news that Active Kids has received an award of £7500 from SportScotland.

The award will be used to purchase gymnastic equipment to allow different age groups of local young people to attend gym sessions.

Commenting on this, Dave said: “I am very pleased to hear that Active Kids have secured this funding from SportScotland. Increasing the opportunities for our children to take part in physical activity is essential to deliver a healthier Scotland."

The grant will be used to purchase a vaulting box, a catcher for air track, a Tumbl Trak Orbitor, a trolley and a safety mat. The project qualified for the grant through satisfying the ‘People and communities are healthier’ outcome in the Awards for All programme.

Adding to this, Dave said: “I would like to congratulate Ms Victoria Horn of Laroch Beag on securing this funding, and I hope as many young people as possible can take advantage of the new equipment by attending Active Kids gym sessions.”
